The airport’s state-of-the-art Terminal A (opened in November 2023)
consolidates most operations under one modern facility designed to handle up to
45 million passengers annually. The terminal features advanced check-in
counters, self-service kiosks, biometric smart travel systems, immigration and
customs services, spacious baggage claim areas, premium lounges, extensive
duty-free shopping, and a wide range of dining outlets offering international
and regional cuisine.
Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the
terminal. Additional amenities include prayer rooms, children’s play areas,
medical services, currency exchange counters, ATMs, transit hotels, and VIP
services. The airport emphasizes seamless transfers, sustainability, and smart
technology integration to enhance passenger experience.
Airlines
AUH serves as the primary hub for Etihad Airways, which operates extensive long-haul and regional routes to destinations such as London, New York, Toronto, Sydney, Mumbai, and Riyadh. Other major carriers operating at AUH include Emirates (limited services), Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, EgyptAir, and Air India, offering a mix of full-service and low-cost connections across five continents.
Transportation
Travelers can reach Abu Dhabi city center via taxis available 24/7 outside
the terminal. Ride-hailing services such as Uber and Careem operate at the
airport. Public bus services connect the airport to key locations in Abu Dhabi,
and intercity buses link to Dubai and other emirates. Car rental services and
private hotel transfers are also widely available.
