Aden International Airport (IATA: ADE) is the primary international gateway to the port city of Aden, located approximately 10 km northeast of the city center in the Khormaksar district. It is one of Yemen’s main operational airports and has played a critical role in maintaining limited domestic and international air connectivity amid the country’s ongoing challenges. The airport serves selected regional destinations, primarily within the Middle East.

Facilities

The airport operates from a main passenger terminal handling both arrivals and departures. Facilities are functional but relatively basic compared to larger regional hubs. Services typically include check-in counters, immigration and customs processing, baggage claim, and passenger waiting areas.

Retail outlets and food services are limited, though small cafés and essential service counters may be available during operating hours. Security screening is in place, and assistance services are provided when flights are scheduled. Travelers are advised to confirm service availability in advance, as operational conditions can vary.

Airlines

Airlines operating at ADE include Yemenia, which provides scheduled international connections, primarily to destinations such as Amman, Cairo, Jeddah, and other approved regional cities depending on bilateral agreements and operational clearances.

Other regional carriers may operate occasional or charter services subject to government authorization. Flight routes and frequencies remain subject to change based on security and regulatory conditions.

Transportation

Taxis are the main form of ground transportation between the airport and central Aden. Public transportation options are limited, and ride-hailing platforms are not widely available. Private transfers are typically arranged through hotels, local contacts, or trusted providers.

Due to security considerations, passengers are strongly encouraged to pre-arrange transportation and verify local travel advisories before arrival.

Aden International Airport continues to function as a vital aviation hub for southern Yemen, supporting humanitarian, diplomatic, and essential commercial travel. Despite infrastructure limitations, it remains an important link connecting Yemen to regional destinations.
