Astana International Airport (NQZ), officially known as Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, is the main international gateway to Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana. Located approximately 16 km southeast of the city center, it is one of the busiest airports in the country, serving both domestic and international routes across Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

The airport operates two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic services. Facilities include check-in counters, self-service kiosks, immigration and customs control, baggage claim areas, airline lounges, duty-free shops, retail outlets, and restaurants. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminals. Additional services include ATMs, currency exchange counters, VIP lounges, medical facilities, prayer rooms, and car rental services.

Transportation

Travelers can reach the city center via taxis available outside the terminal, with journey times of around 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. Public bus services connect the airport to central Astana, including routes to the main railway station and key city districts. Ride-hailing apps operate locally, and car rental services are available at the airport. Private transfers and hotel-arranged transport are also commonly used by visitors.
