Chinggis Khaan International Airport

Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN) is Mongolia’s primary international gateway, located approximately 52 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar. Opened in 2021, it replaced the former Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport for most commercial passenger operations. The airport serves as the main hub for international and domestic air travel in Mongolia, connecting the country to major cities across Asia and select destinations in Europe.

Facilities

The airport features a modern passenger terminal designed to handle both domestic and international flights. Facilities include check-in counters, self-service kiosks, immigration and customs checkpoints, baggage claim areas, airline lounges, duty-free shops, retail outlets, and dining establishments offering Mongolian and international cuisine. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal. Additional services include ATMs, currency exchange counters, car rental services, medical assistance, and information desks.

Airlines

Airlines operating at UBN include MIAT Mongolian Airlines, Aero Mongolia, Hunnu Air, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Air China, and Turkish Airlines. These carriers operate routes to domestic destinations such as Dalanzadgad and Khovd, as well as international destinations including Seoul, Beijing, Istanbul, Tokyo, and Frankfurt.

Transportation

Travel between the airport and Ulaanbaatar is available via taxis, private transfers, and pre-arranged hotel shuttles. Public bus services connect the airport to key points in the city. Travel time to central Ulaanbaatar ranges from 60 to 90 minutes depending on traffic and weather conditions. Ride-hailing services operate on a limited basis compared to larger metropolitan areas.
