Piarco International Airport (POS) is the primary international gateway to Trinidad and Tobago, located in Piarco, approximately 25 km east of Port of Spain, the capital city of Trinidad. It handles the majority of the country’s air traffic, serving both domestic and international flights. The airport connects Trinidad and Tobago with destinations across the Caribbean, North America, South America, and Europe.

The airport operates a single main passenger terminal for commercial flights, supported by a separate terminal for general aviation. The passenger terminal accommodates both arrivals and departures, with facilities including check-in counters, self-service kiosks, immigration and customs processing areas, and baggage claim services.

Travelers have access to airline lounges, duty-free shops, retail outlets, and a range of dining options including local Caribbean cuisine and international food outlets. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal. Additional services include ATMs, currency exchange counters, car rental agencies, information desks, and accessible facilities for passengers with reduced mobility.

Airlines operating at POS include Caribbean Airlines, American Airlines, JetBlue Airways, United Airlines, Copa Airlines, British Airways, Air Canada, and regional carriers. These airlines provide connections to destinations such as Port of Spain-Tobago domestic routes, as well as international services to cities including Miami, New York, Toronto, Panama City, London, and various Caribbean islands.

Transportation

Passengers can travel between the airport and Port of Spain or other parts of Trinidad via licensed airport taxis, private transfers, and rental cars. Authorized taxis operate from designated stands outside the terminal. Ride-hailing services operate on the island, subject to local availability and regulations. Travel time to Port of Spain is 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Some hotels offer pre-arranged shuttle services for guests.

Piarco International Airport continues to support passenger and cargo operations for Trinidad and Tobago, maintaining its role as a key aviation hub in the southern Caribbean.
