Shymkent International Airport

Shymkent International Airport (CIT) is the primary international gateway serving Shymkent, Kazakhstan’s third-largest city and a major economic center in the country’s south. Located approximately 12 km northwest of the city center, the airport connects southern Kazakhstan with key domestic destinations and international cities across Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and East Asia. The airport serves as the main hub for SCAT Airlines and handles both passenger and cargo operations.

Airlines operating at CIT include SCAT Airlines, Air Astana, FlyArystan, flydubai, Pegasus Airlines, Azerbaijan Airlines, Aeroflot, and other regional carriers. As the principal hub of SCAT Airlines, the airport supports an extensive network of domestic and international services.

Shymkent International Airport offers direct flights to major cities within Kazakhstan, including Astana, Almaty, Aktau, Aktobe, Karaganda, and Oskemen. International destinations include Istanbul, Dubai, Moscow, Baku, Munich, Shanghai, Xi’an, Seoul, Antalya, and other regional and seasonal destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Route availability may vary by airline and season.

Transportation

The airport is connected to the city by taxis, private transfers, and public bus services. Bus routes 12 and 12A operate between the airport and Shymkent city. Taxi and ride services provide convenient access to the city center, with travel times typically ranging from 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Short-term and long-term parking facilities are available for private vehicles.
